How To Handle Obscene Or Prank Calls If you receive abusive, harassing or threatening calls, follow these suggestions:
1. Hang up • At the first obscene word. • If the caller doesn’t say anything the second time you say hello. 2. Give no information • Such as name, address or telephone numbers, until the caller has been identified. 3. Advise your children • To give no information to strangers. • That if you’re not home they should say, “Mother/ Father can’t come to the phone right now.”
4. If calls persist • Call Dobson Telephone at 405-964-8600 . • Call the Sheriff’s Department.
Anonymous Call Rejection You won’t even hear the phone ring
Anonymous Call Rejection allows you to reject calls from people who have blocked their telephone number from being displayed on a caller ID unit. The caller will hear an announcement that says you don’t accept anonymous calls—and you won’t even hear the phone ring.
How To Use Anonymous Call Rejection 1. Pick up the handset and listen for the dial tone. 2. Press *77 . (On a rotary phone, dial 1177.) 3. Listen for a confirmation tone telling you the feature is active. When Someone Calls Callers who have blocked the display of their number or name will hear an announcement that you do not accept anonymous calls and they should remove blocking and call again. All other calls will ring through as usual. To Cancel 1. Press *87 . (On a rotary phone, dial 1187.) 2. Listen for a confirmation tone that the service is deactivated.
