CLASS FEATURES Calling Number Delivery Blocking
Benefits: COT makes it easier to trace obscene, threatening or harassing calls and offers the benefits of protection and security. Typically, such calls can be eliminated if they can be traced back to the offender. Forms must be signed in office prior to activation.
Calling Number Delivery Blocking (CNDB) allows a subscriber to toggle the permanent public/private status of his/her line for the duration of one call by dialing an access code prior to making a call. For example, a subscriber whose permanent public/ private status is public could dial the CNDB code to label his/her directory number as private and thus prevent Calling Number Delivery to the called pa y. A er the call is completed, the subscriber’s line returns to its permanent public/private status. Benefits: CNDB offers the benefits of privacy and security. Some subscribers may wish to prevent their directory numbers from being made available to the called pa y.
To Access: Press *57. (On a rotary phone, dial 1157.)
Distinctive Ringing Distinctive Ringing allows two or three Directory Numbers (DNs) to be assigned to the same line. This allows a subscriber to receive calls on up to three separate numbers without installing additional lines. A distinctive ringing pa ern is provided for each DN, so the subscriber can identify the number that has been dialed. In addition, Call Waiting (CW) service may be provided with the Distinctive Ringing feature. When these two features are assigned concurrently, unique CW tones are provided for each DN on the line. The CW tones correspond to the ringing pa erns on the line, so that incoming calls may be answered appropriately. Call Forwarding (CF) may also be used in conjunction with the Distinctive Ringing feature. The concurrent subscription to these features allows for two CF options. Under one option, calls to all DNs on the line are forwarded to the assigned number. Under the other option, only calls to the main DN will be forwarded to the assigned number. The desired option must be chosen at the time CF is added to the Distinctive Ringing line (or vice versa).
To access CNDB, dial *67 from a touch tone telephone or 1167 from a rotary dial telephone.
If your number is nonpublished, dial *82 then the number you want to call to release your number for anonymous call rejection.
Calling Identity Delivery On Call Waiting Calling Identity Delivery on Call Waiting (CIDCW) is a feature that will allow the subscriber to receive information about a calling pa y on a waiting call. CIDCW is assignable to all single-pa y lines, business group lines and multiline phones. While the customer is on the telephone and has the Call Waiting feature, the Calling Identity Delivery will deliver the number to the customer’s present Caller ID (CPE). The customer must have the Caller ID feature and CPE in order for this feature to work. Customer Originated Trace Customer Originated Trace (COT) allows a subscriber to automatically initiate a trace of the last incoming call. To activate this feature, the subscriber simply dials the COT access code to have the calling pa y’s directory number printed at the Telco or authorized agency locations. By utilizing an announcement machine, which does not have to be an Expanded Announcement System, the subscriber is provided with instructional announcements on how to activate COT. This is commonly referred to as two-level COT.
