IMPORTANT All CTTC Exchanges All Long Distance Calls Can Be Dialed Direct Here's How: STATION-TO-STATION CALLS This is Not New , but it is still the fastest and easiest way to call long distance. Just dial 1 + the area code + the number. Example: Area Code Phone Number 1 + 325 + 835-4499 1 + calls go through at economical station-to-station rates. OPERATOR-ASSISTED CALLS * Person-to-Person, Calling Card, Collect, and Third Number Billing. You can dial these calls by dialing 0 + instead of 1 +. Just dial 0 (Zero) + area code + number for IntraLATA calls, or dial 00 + area code + number for InterLATA calls. The Operator will ask for the information to give your call special handling. While the Operator is talking with you, the call you have dialed is speeding through. It is a real time saver. Operator-Assisted call rates will apply.
TYPES OF LONG DISTANCE CALLS STATION-TO-STATION *
Direct Distance Dialed (DDD) calls are station-to-station calls. Call station-to-station if you'll talk with anyone who answers. Rates are lower than for person-to-person calls and charging begins when the telephone you've called is answered. PERSON-TO-PERSON * Call Person-to-Person when you wish to talk with a particular person or extension. Tell the Operator you wish to make a "person-to-person" call and give the area code for the city you want, the telephone number, and the name of the person you are calling. Rates are higher than for station-to-station calls. Charging starts when the conversation begins with the person you've called. COLLECT * You can call "collect" if the person or firm you're calling agrees to pay the charge. If you want to make a "collect" call, tell the Operator and give the area code for the city you want and the telephone number. CONFERENCE * You can talk with several people in different places at the same time. Dial Operator and tell him/her you wish to make a conference call. and to practically all the world's telephones. Some Mobile and Marine calls can be completed by dialing; others must be completed by the Operator. On overseas calls, dial Operator, ask for the Overseas Operator and give the name of the country you're calling. * Dialing 0 (Zero) for the Operator must be dialed from an unblocked telephone number. If your telephone number is blocked or private, you must dial *82 before dialing 0 (Zero).
