AREA CODE MAP & TIME ZONES

The U.S. and Canada are divided into more than 134 telephone areas. Each area has a 3 figure code. See map for your area code. The area code of the telephone you are calling should be dialed, or given to the operator if it is different from the area code of the telephone you are using. It should not be used if it is the same. (When placing a call with the operator, say, for example, “I want area code 312-555-2364.”) When you give someone your telephone number, include your area code if they need it to return your call.
