HOW CAN I HELP OTHERS AFFORD A TELEPHONE? You can help provide telephone service to others with a monthly donation to the Universal Telephone Service Assistance Program through your telephone bill. You can also make one-time contributions to this program. To contribute, contact Adams at 217-696-4611. ARE THERE ANY PROGRAMS TO HELP WITH PAYING MY TELEPHONE OR BROADBAND INTERNET BILL? Lifeline and Link-Up are governmental programs that offer financial assistance to eligible low-income people with the cost of phone installation and basic local phone service or broadband Internet service. To qualify for assistance, households must participate in one of the following governmental programs: Federal Public Housing Assistance Program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or Veteran’s Pension or Survivor’s Benefit Programs. Households with income equal to or less than 135% of Federal Poverty Guidelines will qualify. This program is not available in all exchanges. To check availability in your area or to apply for assistance, contact Adams at 877-696-4611 and ask for the Billing Department.
