Meetings on the Second Friday of every month at 10:00a.m. The Coarsegold Resource Conservation District (CRCD) is considered a legal subdivision of the State of California. Under state law, the CRCD is responsible for soil and water conservation work within its boundaries. The district governing board is appointed, and it is their job to plan and carry out long-range programs based on the conservation work needed in their area. At the request of the CRCD board, The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) assigns a district conservationist and a staff to provide technical assistance to the district and its cooperating land users. The Board of Directors meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Mill Site Conference Room. The Board consists of 12 representatives appointed from various local groups including the Chamber of Commerce, the North Fork Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, North Fork Boosters, the Chawanakee Unified School District, the North Fork Women’s Club, the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians, the North Fork History Group, the Foundation for Resource Conservation, as well as four at-large elected members of the community. The Women’s Club is the oldest organization in North Fork and was established in 1946 by Judge Marcia Putney, to promote and help our small but growing community. Our motto is to give back to the community, which we do through scholarships to local graduating students, and other school projects that need help on funds. We donate to local organizations, such as the Citizens on Patrol, Fire Department, and other community needs that might arise. Membership is open to all local ladies. Dues are $10.00 per year.
