Membership fees start at $20 per year for Individual membership and up to $1,000 for Gold Donor membership. CSHS is a California non-profit corporation operated exclusively for public benefit and educational purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The mission of CSHS is to enrich the cultural and educational experiences of visitors to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, by deepening their understanding of the human and natural history of this area. CSHS hopes to inspire future generations by bringing to life the challenges and achievements of the people who lived here. The area represented by the Museum of the Central Sierra includes the drainages of the San Joaquin and Kings Rivers from the crest of the Sierra to the valley floor which is watered by the two rivers. The natural resources in this area have supported both natural and human species for thousands of years. The richness of water, sun, and soil has provided life giving growth that was highly valuable to all peoples. The Museum of the Central Sierra is on nearly 20 acres of Southern California Edison land, housing a 6400 sq. ft. Museum and Education Center and several outdoor exhibits. The Shaver Lake Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting tourism in Shaver Lake and the surrounding region. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Shaver Lake Village Hotel at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
