Carrier Selection You must select a specific long distance company to handle all telephone calls being made to points outside your local calling area. Rates and regula- tions vary between companies and some compa- nies bill separately, so you should select the long distance company that best meets the calling needs for you and/or your business. Some long distance companies may require you to establish an account with them before using their services. Each company is different, so make sure you ask.
