Lifeline To ensure that telephone service is available and affordable for low income telephone subscribers, the TPUC established the Lifeline Telephone Assistance Program. Lifeline saves telephone subscribers money on the local service portion of the telephone bill. And, by selecting the lowest cost residential service plan offered by the local telephone company, it also ensures an affordable monthly telephone bill. This program will not assist on long distance charges or special features such as Caller ID or Call Waiting. However, Lifeline can be applied to broadband Internet services for those living in a DSL area. Who is Eligible for Lifeline? You automatically qualify for Lifeline if you are enrolled in any ONE or more of the following programs: • Food Stamps (SNAP) • Medicaid (Not TennCare) • Supplemental Security Income (SSI) • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA) • Veterans Pension or Survivors Benefits • Additional eligibility programs for Tribal Lands • Income at or below 135% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines You must also live in one of these communities: Atoka, Bolton, Braden, Dancyville, Drummonds, Keeling, Longtown, Lucy, Mason, Millington, Munford, Naval Base, Rosemark, Shelby Forest or Stanton
