OUR HISTORY

The original part of OTELCO in Missouri, the Gilliam Telephone Company, was formed May 18, 1903, and the Marshall Junction Telephone Company was formed in May 1928. Those two companies merged in November 1932 and became Mid-Missouri Telephone Company. In 1946, Mid-Missouri Telephone Company bought the Blackwater-Arrow Rock Telephone Company, adding the Blackwater and Arrow Rock exchanges. With the vision of serving rural communities where telephone service needed upgrading, Mid-Missouri Telephone Company grew, acquiring the Nelson, Pilot Grove and Bunceton exchanges from United Telephone Co. Adding Fortuna, Speed, Latham, High Point, and Miami completed the current twelve exchanges, extending 100 miles from north to south. We introduced Internet service to our areas in March 1995, and in 2002, I-Land Internet Services was acquired. On December 21, 2004, Mid-Missouri Telephone Company became a division of OTELCO, with our name officially changing to Otelco Mid-Missouri LLC on January 1, 2012. In 2018, all companies started using the OTELCO name. Our footprint spans seven states, with specific products and services available either statewide or regionally, including Alabama, Maine, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, Vermont, and West Virginia. For more than a century, the OTELCO family of communication companies has been providing rural communities with cutting edge technology, first with the telephone in the late 1800s, and today with traditional and digital communication technology and high-speed Internet.

Important Notice Regarding 10-Digit Dialing The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has adopted 988 as a new three-digit number to be used nationwide to reach the National Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Crisis Lifeline, starting July 16, 2021 . Customers must continue to dial 1-800-273-TALK to reach the Lifeline until July 16, 2022 . In order for 988 to work in the 660 area code, 10-digit local dialing must first be implemented. Beginning October 24, 2021 , you must dial 10 digits (area code + telephone number) for all local calls. For more information, please visit https://www.otelco.com/?s=10+digit+dialing .

There are a number of companies that are willing to carry your IntraLATA and InterLATA calls. It is up to you to make a comparison of companies and their rate plans. You may decide you want the same company to handle all of your toll calls or you may find one company has a better plan to handle your IntraLATA calls and another com- pany has better rates for your InterLATA calls. When you have selected the best calling plan for you, call the long distance company’s 800 num- ber to start service. You must also call OTELCO to set up the IntraLATA and InterLATA carrier on your account. After you make your initial selec- tion of an IntraLATA and InterLATA toll company, you can make changes of these toll carriers in the future; however, changing the IntraLATA or InterLATA carrier will result in a charge for each switch of carriers you make. What are Interstate Calls? Interstate calls (sometimes referred to as State- to-State calls) are calls to another state. Some long distance companies have separate calling plans for Interstate or State-to-State calls.

LIFELINE

Yes, you can afford telephone and Internet service... ...and We can show you how! LIFELINE Low-Income Assistance Program for Telecommunications Service Federal and state lawmakers believe that every person in America should have access to quality, affordable telecommunications service. In fact, they’ve created a system to do just that. Lifeline provides a reduction of the monthly telephone or Internet access charges for any eligible low income or disabled customer or dependent residing in the customer’s household. The reduction applies to a single telephone line or broadband Internet access service. Broadband Internet access service must be at minimum speeds of 25M downstream and 3M upstream in areas where those speeds are available, with a minimum usage allowance of 150GB. Eligibility If you or a dependent in your household participates in one of the programs listed below, then you may be eligible for Lifeline support. The subscriber or dependent in the household must show proof of participation in at least one of these assistance programs in order for the household to receive Lifeline support: • Missouri HealthNet (Medicaid) • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) - formerly known as Food Stamps • Supplemental Security Income (SSI) • Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8 - FPHA) • Veterans Pension or Survivors Pension • Income, as defined in 47 C.F.R. section 54.400(f), is at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines Restrictions • Lifeline is a government benefit program. • Only eligible households may subscribe. • Lifeline benefit is limited to one per household. • Subscribers willfully making false statements to obtain the Lifeline benefit can be punished by fine or imprisonment, or be barred from the Lifeline program. You can apply with the National Verifier through a service provider, by mail, or online using the consumer portal at CheckLifeline.org . OTELCO 215 Roe Street, P.O.
