Movies in the Park: Bring the family to Kerckhoff Park on the 2nd Friday of the month June through August for Movies in the Park. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a family-friendly movie under the stars. This is a FREE public event; movie begins at dusk. Aquatics: June and July Recreation Swim: Tuesday - Saturday from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m. Entry fees: 17 and under $1.50; 18 and older $2. $1 entrance fee for non-swimmers. Swim Lessons: Sessions are two weeks long and meet Monday - Friday; morning and evening times available. Various levels offered for every swimmer beginning with infants who are 12 months of age. Adult Lap Swim: Monday - Friday 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.; must be at least 16 years of age; entry fee $1. Space is limited, pool is shared with swim team and swim lesson programs. Senior Water Aerobics: Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Aquatics season at Kearney Palms Apartments. Zumba: A year round program, classes meet Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday evenings at the Community/Teen Center. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party! HIIT Fitness: Tone up with HIIT Fitness! Combine short bursts of intense exercise with periods of rest or lower-intensity exercise. Mix aerobic and resistance training to tone up. Get ready to sweat with HIIT Fitness Instructor, Rhonda Brewer! Classes are held Mondays 7:15 8:15pm and Wednesday 6:00 – 7:00pm in the Kerman Community Center.

Youth Commission: The Kerman Youth Commission (KYC) is an advisory council made up of Kerman teens grades 7-12 who participate in planning and coordinating events for a variety of recreation and special events. The KYC meets twice a month on Wednesdays at the Community/ Teen Center. Summer Day Camp: Ages 6-12 Offered during June and July, this program is located in Kerckhoff Park at the Scout Hut. Youth pays $2/day to participate in games, arts & crafts, and other various activities. All participants must have a parent signed registration form filled out prior to their 1st day at the program. Registrations are accepted throughout the summer.

Recreation Programs

Youth Sports Start Smart Pre-Sports:

Start Smart is a nationally recognized program that was created by the National Alliance for Youth Sports. This program helps kids between the ages of 3 and 7 years old get ready for sports in an innovative step-by-step approach that builds confidence and self esteem in a fun and safe sports environment. Start Smart sports offered include basketball, baseball, and football. Youth Tennis: Ages 5-12 A Co-Ed instructional program designed to introduce players to tennis. Registration for the fall season begins in August; season begins in October. Registration for the spring season begins in March; season begins in April. The Fall and Spring programs are six weeks long. Youth Volleyball: Ages 7-12 A Co-Ed instructional

Community Activities Kerman Skate Park at Kerckhoff Park: Open daily during regular park hours; March October 8 a.m. - 10 p.m., November-February 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. The Skate Park is a 13,000 square foot lighted and fenced facility with bleacher spectator viewing area. Helmet and pads are required. Skate Park is closed during wet weather. Kerman Farmers Market: The City of Kerman in partnership with Cal Fresh Healthy Living will kick off the 2023 Farmers Market season in March from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Kerman Community Center parking lot. The Kerman Farmers Market will be a once-a-month event through October (subject to weather conditions). Youth Performing Arts is for youths 6 to 15 years old; no formal experience is needed. All registered participants receive a principal or supporting role. Rehearsal is held at the Community Center Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 - 6:00pm for eight weeks, with two performances scheduled at the end of the eight weeks.
