Relay Service For The Hearing / Speech Impaired Relay Missouri Service And How it Works

Customers’ Rights To Own And Provide Their Own Phones And Other Terminal Equipment

Under Federal Communications Commission (FCC) guidelines, you may supply your own phone or other terminal equipment and connect it directly to the nationwide phone network. You are not required to obtain your phone or other terminal equip- ment from SCC Networks ® in order to receive service. Rates and services are provided on an equal basis whether you provide your own equipment or obtain it from SCC Networks ® . If you supply your own phone or other terminal equipment it must be approved by the FCC and you are responsible for its proper connection, maintenance and repair. SCC Networks ® will verify the condition of a line if requested at no charge. A charge will apply for each visit by SCC Networks ® to a cus- tomer’s premises in connection with a service difficulty when it is determined that the difficulty was due to a condition in a customer-provided phone or other terminal equipment. Fraudulent Charges It is illegal to charge any calls to another person’s phone num- ber or calling card without his/her permission. Persons placing such calls are subject to prosecution, and, if convicted, are subject to a fine and/or imprisonment. Harassing Calls State and federal law make it a crime to place obscene or harassing phone calls. The penalty is a fine and/or imprisonment. Unlawful Wiretapping It is a crime under federal and state laws to wiretap or otherwise intercept a phone call unless the consent of one or both of the

Missourians with hearing/speech impairments using a tele- communications device for the deaf (TDD) will be able to communicate with people using standard phone equipment. Missourians without hearing/speech impairments using stan- dard phone equipment can call a TDD user. Relay Missouri will utilize specially trained agents located at the Relay Missouri
