Thank You, CC Communications • By September 3, 1905, Fernley was listed with a day and night telegraph office. • In 1914, the Southern Pacific Railroad completed the Fernley & Lassen Railway and a suitable depot was constructed in Fernley. • In 1954, Pay Telephone Service was installed in Silver Springs. • According to the 1910 U.S. Census, 159 people lived in the Fernley area. • Much of the farmland in the Fernley area was developed through the Newlands Irrigation Project. • Wadsworth, once an important railroad town, supplied trains with water and coal for the long trip through the Forty Mile Desert. • According to a newspaper article in February, 1953, twenty-six families lived in Silver Springs. • In 1951, six children attended school in Fernley. A beginner photographer, she is enrolled in Truckee Meadows Community College and will complete her Associate of Fine Arts degree (with an emphasis in Photography) in December of 2025. She enjoys taking pictures of her home state and the people closest to her.
