The Churchill Arts Council opened the Bar kley Theatre at the Oats Park Center on Valentine’s Day, 2003, capping a 10-year campaign to complete the first phase of the adaptive reuse of the historic Oats Park School building, which is on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places. The 350-seat theatre is a state-of-the-art facility, hailed as the finest small performing arts house in Nevada. It features unparal leled sight lines and an intimate perform er-artist relationship. The theatre is home to an ongoing series of performances through out the year, from Folk and Bluegrass to World Music and Jazz. The visual art galler

ies, including the E.L. Wiegand and Class room Galleries, were completed in 2006 and feature an eclectic array of changing exhibi tions by regionally and nationally acclaimed artists in all media. The historic Lariat Motel sign, long an icon on Highway 50 in Fallon, was restored and re-installed in the Art Cen ter’s courtyard in 2012. The ChArts Store at the Oats Park Art Cen ter offers a wide variety of artworks, prints, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, cards and books by local and regional artists and is open at all CAC events or by appointment. The Center also is available for a wide range

of community activities, including gradua tions, class reunions, conferences, meet ings, and wedding receptions. CAC is a private, nonprofit local arts agency dedicated to providing educa tional and experiential opportunities in the arts on a variety of levels. For more than two decades, CAC has presented a world of performing arts events, visual art exhibitions, film series, lectures and con versations with artists in all disciplines, and artists-in-residence programming.
