• By September 3, 1905, Fernley was listed with a day and night telegraph office.
• In 1914, the Southern Pacific Railroad completed the Fernley & Lassen Railway and a suitable depot was constructed in Fernley.

• In 1954, Pay Telephone Service was installed in Silver Springs.
• According to the 1910 U.S. Census, 159 people lived in the Fernley area.
• Much of the farmland in the Fernley area was developed through the Newlands Irrigation Project.
• Wadsworth, once an important railroad town, supplied trains with water and coal for the long trip through the Forty Mile Desert. • According to a newspaper article in February, 1953, twenty-six families lived in Silver Springs.
• In 1951, six children attended school in Fernley.
