SILVER SPRINGS / WADSWORTH

Wadsworth

The town was born in 1867 as a division point of the Central Pacific Railroad. The location was an important one for the railroad. From this point eastward across the desert there would be no more water and fuel for the engines. Wadsworth became the supply depot for the railroad.

The town was named for General James S. Wadsworth, a Civil War general killed at the Battle of the Wilderness in 1864.

Wadsworth has a population of ap- proximately 830. Its elevation is 4,075 feet, making it an ideal location to experience all four seasons.

Wadsworth is a sleepy little village located approximately 30 miles east of Sparks, and three miles from Fernley, on the edge of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Indian Reservation.
