QUICK FACTS

• By September 3, 1905, Fernley was listed with a day and night telegraph office.

• In 1914, the Southern Pacific Railroad completed the Fernley & Lassen Railway and a suitable depot was constructed in Fernley.

• In 1954, Pay Telephone Service was installed in Silver Springs.

• According to the 1910 U.S. Census, 159 people lived in the Fernley area.

• Much of the farmland in the Fernley area was developed through the Newlands Irrigation Project.

• Wadsworth, once an important railroad town, supplied trains with water and coal for the long trip through the Forty Mile Desert. • According to a newspaper article in February, 1953, twenty-six families lived in Silver Springs.

• In 1951, six children attended school in Fernley.

‘Do Not Call’ Information

The Law: The State of Nevada, with its adoption of NRS 228.500 through 228.640, now has a “do not call” law that works in combination with the federal “do not call” law. These laws allow you to limit telemarketing calls you receive by placing your number on the “do not call” registry.

• No information contained in the registry, other than the telephone numbers, will be included on the list published pursuant to the law or otherwise disclosed to the public. • The Federal Trade Commission will not drop any telephone numbers from the National Do Not Call Registry. • Once your number is entered in the National Do Not Call Registry, telemarketers and sellers covered by the FTC’s rules must remove your phone number from their call lists. Telemarketers are required to search the registry every 31 days and delete from their call lists phone numbers that are in the registry.
