ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR TELEPHONE DISCOUNT PROGRAMS?

For eligible customers, the discount will apply only to basic telephone service. This discount does not prevent you from subscribing to optional telephone services such as custom calling services (i.e. Call Waiting, Caller ID); however, the discount rate does not apply to these services or any other optional telephone services. Call the Texas low-income discount administrator toll-free at 1-866-454-8387 (4-Lite-Up) or contact your local phone company to find out if you qualify. If you think you may qualify for a Lifeline Discount or if you know someone who may qualify, please call the toll-free number above or call our local business office at 1-800-535 8904 and let one of our service representatives assist you. Texas Audio Newspaper Service Texas residents who are blind or visually impaired may qualify for a new service that gives them access to national and local newspapers via synthetic speech, called Audio Newspaper. For more information regarding the free service or to register for the service, contact the National Federation of the Blind at toll free telephone number 1-866-636-3289 or visit the NFB web site at www.nfb.org .

To assist qualified low-income customers in obtaining and maintaining local telephone service, discount assistance programs are available from local exchange telephone companies. Under these discount assistance programs, customers that qualify are eligible for a discount off their basic Lifeline Service Program reduces monthly rates for basic local telephone service. Customers or household members who receive benefits through the Texas Department of Health and Human Services (TDHHS) from the following programs qualify for Lifeline Assistance and may be automatically enrolled in the Lifeline Program: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, Supplement Security Income, and State Child Health Plan. In addition, customers may also self-certify eligibility if they are recipients of: Federal Public Housing Assistance, Low Income Energy Assistance Program, or have a maximum income level of at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines. monthly telephone service.
