In partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, Port Freeport launched the Velasco Terminal Access Project in 2024 to enhance traffic flow, reduce truck queueing, and improve terminal access.The Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project, a $295 million federal initiative, is on track for substantial completion by the end of 2025, deepening and widening the channel to accommodate larger vessels and enhance navigational safety. The newly constructed Gate 12 features two inbound and two outbound lanes to increase truck capacity, reduce congestion, and improve turn times. The completion of Area 5 further supports operational growth by expanding cargo laydown and storage capacity.
