Service For Disabled Customers Many services have been developed specifically by the telephone industry to help those with hearing, sight, speech or motion impair ments. If you have difficulty using the telephone, perhaps one of our special services can help. Please contact our business office for further information. RELAY TEXAS is a service that relays calls between a person using a TDD or other assistive devices and any other telephone user within the state. The service also allows a person without a TDD to call a TDD user. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is no extra charge for this service. Calls placed to destina tions within the State of Texas will be billed at discounted rates. Long distance calls placed through RELAY TEXAS will be billed at US Sprint rates. To use RELAY TEXAS, or obtain more information call toll-free: TDD USERS: 1-800-735-2989 (1-800-RELAY-TX) or 7-1-1 OTHER USERS: 1-800-735-2988 (1-800-RELAY-VV) The Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP) provides financial assistance to help Texas residents with disabilities purchase basic specialized equipment or services needed to access the telephone network. This program is open to all individuals who are residents of Texas and have a disability. Lifeline Service You May Be Eligible For Discounted Telephone or Broadband Service BTEL understands the importance of consumers having access to quality local telephone or broadband internet service. To help con sumers obtain and keep their local service, BTEL offers reduced rates to eligible consumers under the Lifeline Program. Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program

• Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA) • Veterans or Survivors Pension Benefit • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) (State only discount)

• Health benefits coverage under the state Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) (State only discount) • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) (State only discount) • The National School Lunch Program’s Free Lunch Program (State only discount) If you do not participate in one of these programs, a customer is eligible for the discount if the customer’s annual household income is at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines for the federal discount, or at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines for the state discount. For eligible customers, the discount will apply only to basic telephone or broadband internet service. The discount does not prevent you from subscribing to optional telephone services such as Customer Calling service (i.e., Call Waiting, Caller ID); however, the discount does not apply to these services or other charges. By simply calling 2-1-1, callers are connected to a live person who assists them in assessing their need and locating information about available resources in the community. Texas Universal Service The Texas Universal Service Fund was created by the State of Texas to help pay for low income customers and customers in high cost rural areas and to serve customers with disabilities. If you have any questions about this charge or how it is calculated, please call your telephone company.

You may qualify for Lifeline service which reduces the monthly charge for a custom er’s local telephone (home or wireless) or broadband internet (home or wireless) service, but not both. To qualify for the discount, customers or members of the household who participate in one of the following programs will be enrolled in the Lifeline Program: • Medicaid • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
