CALL ANSWERING / VOICEMAIL
Call Answering / Voicemail Call answering is easy to use. Options are available to allow your call- ers to leave messages for you when you are on and/or away from your phone. Simple detailed instructions for Call Answering will be provided to you by prompts after you have dialed the access number connecting you to your mail box. Listed below are those access numbers along with brief instructions. After voicemail is installed on your line, dial 270-396-1000, 270-547-1000, 270-877-1000, or 270-982-1000 to set up your pass- word and record your greeting. Use the number that is local to you. The original set up call must be made from your line. After you have set up your password you may call one of the access numbers from any touch tone phone to re-record your greeting, change your password, or retrieve your messages. Just follow the prompts after you dial the access number. The default password is 0000. If you hear “Stuttered Dial Tone”, that means you have new messages that you have not played. To hear these messages press “*98”. This will only work from your phone when you have unplayed messages. All other times you must dial the access numbers ( 270-396-1000, 270- 547-1000, 270-877-1000, or 270-982-1000 ) and follow the prompts.

To turn ON Busy Call Forward Feature, press *90 To turn OFF Busy Call Forward Feature, press *91 Your 10 digit telephone number is your mail box number. Your password may be from 4 digits to 16 digits.
Stuttered Dial Tone sounds like a fast busy signal. This indicates you have a new message that you have not played. If you do not wish to hear your message at this time, you may dial any call using the stut- tered dial tone the same as you would a regular dial tone. Deleting messages that you do not need will conserve space in your mail box. You will not need further printed instructions if you listen to the prompts after you have dialed your mail box access number.

Company Code Dialing To utilize the service of a carrier other than your “preselected” carrier, dial the seven digit code of the company you wish to use, and then dial the long distance number as you would normally. Some equal access long distance companies accept company code dialing without a previously arranged account. Some companies may require that you set up an account with them before you can use their code. Each long distance company can provide you with their seven digit access code (101XXXX). Directory Assistance • One bill for local and long distance • Local people you know and trust Local Requests -To request a local number, you may call 411 up to five (5) times, per billing cycle, free of charge. You may request two (2) local numbers, per call, at no additional charge. Six (6) or more calls for local requests are 20 cents per call. Long Distance, Nationwide - To request a long distance number, you would also call 411 . Long Distance number requests are 85 cents per requested number, per phone call. Charges do apply to requests for numbers which are not listed, non-published or which the Operator cannot find. Customers who have a disability, which prevents the use of a directo- ry, may apply for an exemption for local directory assistance charges. Contact a Brandenburg Telephone Co. Service Representative for infor- mation on this exemption. Toll-Free Service Dial 411 for ALL Directory Assistance. For 800 information dial 1-800-555-1212 .
Long Distance Calling You may access the long distance company you have selected by dialing 1 + or 0 + the area code and telephone number for long dis- tance calls. A list of long distance companies that are available to Brandenburg Telephone Company customers may be obtained by contacting our business office. Questions regarding these companies’ rates and services can be obtained by contacting the long distance companies directly. * Please note: Long distance calls billed in the Custer (536), Irvington (547, 668, 863), Clarkson (242, 396), Cloverport (788), Hardinsburg (580, 756) and McDaniels (257, 902) exchanges are billed on CENTRAL time. All other exchanges are billed on EASTERN time. Direct Dialed Long Distance Calls 1 + area code + 7-digit telephone number. These rates are usually lower than operator-assisted calls. 10 Digit Dialing in an Area Code Overlay What is an area code overlay? An overlay is the use of two area codes for the same geographical region. What is the dialing procedure? To complete local calls, the dialing procedure requires callers to dial area code + telephone number . This means that all calls in the 270/364 area code must be dialed using area code + telephone number . • The price of a call, coverage area, or other rates and services are not affected due to the overlay. • Local calls remain local regardless of the number of digits dialed. • Dial 1 + area code + telephone number for all long distance calls. • You can still dial just three digits to reach 911. • If 211, 311, 411, 511, 611, 711 or 811 are currently available in your community, you will still dial these codes with just three digits.

KENTUCKY RELAY
Important Information Regarding Kentucky Relay
What is Kentucky Relay? Kentucky Relay is a public service that guarantees all citizens access to prompt, professional and precise communication through a telephone. Consumers of these specialized services, specifically individuals who are deaf, deaf-blind, hard of hearing or have difficulty speaking, can communicate on the telephone via TTY, Voice Carry Over (VCO), Hearing Carry Over (HCO), Speech-to-Speech (STS), Spanish-to-Spanish and Captioned Telephone. This helps ensure the ability to connect with family, friends or businesses with ease. How does the Kentucky Relay work? Simply dial 711 to connect with Kentucky Relay. A qualified Communication Assistant (CA) will ask for the area code and the number of the person you wish to call and begin the relay call. Generally, the CA will voice the typed message from the text telephone (TTY) user to you. The CA then relays your voiced message response by typing it to the TTY user. Specialized Services: Kentucky Relay offers specialized services for individuals who have difficulty speaking and for Spanish-speaking residents. Specially trained CAs are on hand to assist in these types of calls by dialing the number provided. Since Kentucky Relay offers a variety of services, please refer to the website listed, or contact Kentucky Relay Customer Care for more detailed instruction on how a particular call is processed. Captioned Telephone: Captioned Telephone is ideal and available for individuals with hearing loss that can speak for themselves. A captioned telephone works like any other telephone with one essential difference: it allows users to listen to their phone conversations while reading captions of what's being said to them. Access to Services: 711 provides toll-free relay calling. If you are experiencing trouble dialing 711 while trying to reach Kentucky Relay, please contact Kentucky Relay Customer Care. All TRS and English Captioned Telephone services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Spanish Captioned Telephone is available daily from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. EST or 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. CST. Consumers may place relay calls to English-speaking and Spanish-speaking people within Kentucky, across the United States, and even internationally. By law, each conversation is handled with strict confidentiality.
To place a call using Kentucky Relay,

Special points of interest: Equipment Distribution Program
The Kentucky Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing’s (KCDHH) Telecommunications Access Program (TAP) provides residents of Kentucky who are deaf, hard of hearing, have difficulty speaking or have both a hearing and vision loss, with landline or wireless equipment to make communication on the telephone more accessible. For more information, visit www.kcdhh.ky.gov/oea/howapply.html or call 800-372-2907 (Voice) or 502-416-0607 (VP). Emergency Calls Please note that 711 can only be used to reach Kentucky Relay. In an EMERGENCY you should continue to use 911. For emergencies, call 911 or your local emergency service TTY number directly and not relay. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that 911 centers have a TTY and be prepared to handle emergency calls placed in this manner. Kentucky Relay will make every effort to assist you in an emergency. However, it is important to understand that relay centers are not 911 centers and do not assume responsibility for emergency calls.
