WHAT IF I NEED INFORMATION? Volcano Telephone: Within the 209 Area, Dial the Number 411. Outside the 209 Area, Dial 1, then the Area Code for the City you want then 555-1212, or dial “00” for your long distance company. (There is a charge for this service.) WHAT IF I REACH A WRONG NUMBER? Volcano Subscribers, Dial “00” right away and tell the Operator what happened. They will make sure that you are not charged for the call.

WHAT IF I GET A POOR CONNECTION OR AM CUT OFF?

Dial “00” immediately and tell them. They’ll see that you get a good connection, and that you are charged only for the time you’ve been able to talk and hear satisfactorily.

NOTICE CONCERNING MONITORING For training and quality control purposes, a sampling of telephone calls (one percent or less of Operator-Assisted or Directory Assis tance calls) between telephone company employees and custom ers are monitored, without notice to the customer or the employ ee, by supervisory or management personnel. No recording of the call is made. Calls Between Customers Are Not Monitored For This Purpose , or for any purpose without the use of an automat ic tone warning, except when required by law enforcement and national defense agencies, pursuant to law and under legal safe guards. STATEMENT OF NONDISCRIMINATION “The Volcano Telephone Company has filed with the Federal Government a Compliance Assurance in which they assure the Rural Utilities Service that they will comply fully with all requirements of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Rules and Regulations of the Department of Agriculture issued thereunder, to the end that no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination in the conduct of their program and the operation of their facilities. Under this Assurance, these organizations are committed not to discriminate against any person on the ground of race, color, or national origin in their policies and practices relating to applications for service or any other policies and practices relating to treatment of ben eficiaries and participants including rates, conditions and extensions of service, use of any of their facilities, attendance at and participation in any meetings of beneficiaries and participants or the exercise of any rights of such beneficiaries and participants in the conduct of the operations of this organization.” Any person who believes themselves, or any specific class of individuals, to be subjected by these organi zations to discrimination prohibited by Title VI of the Act and the Rules and Regulations issued thereunder may, by himself or a representative, file with the Secretary of Agriculture, Washington, DC 20250, or the Rural Utilities Service, Washington, DC 20250, or this organization, or all, a written complaint. Such complaint must be filed not later than 180 days after the alleged discrimination, or by such later date to which the Secretary of Agriculture or the Rural Utilities Service extends the time for filing. Identity of complainants will be kept confidential except to the extent necessary to carry out the purposes of the Rules and Regulations.
